technology

Jason

Technology is starting to take over alot of everything in the united states, Some of the things that has already been replaced by technology is using pay phones, writing essays in school, listing to music and much more, the one that Im focusing on in this blog post is how technology has affected cars. They want to make everything electric now, like self driving cars such as tesla, then you have other electric cars such as prius, nissan, bmw. But what will happen when everything goes electric? If everything went electric whats gonna happen to all the workers and owners of all these car companys.

What will happen to the seventy million workers and owners nationwide in the automotive industry if they have a chance of loosing there job by the expected year of 2030. (Dickinson) But another thing to think about is if they expect to have self driving cars and electric cars by 2030 what will happen to farmers, big truck hauling companys, taxi drivers, uber drivers, and all the other things that involve driving. It would be almost impossiable to have big truck drivers and farmers go electric nor would half of them even agree to go electric. Even if it was possiable technology could not take care of all the driving that it would take to drive the big hauling truck, but truck drivers dont just drive from one to place to another. “Truck drivers perform all kinds of tasks, from checking vehicles and securing cargo, to maintaining logs and providing customer service. Many of these tasks are nowhere close to being automatable. For example, there is currently no technology available (or being widely tested) to automate the loading or unloading of trucks. The equipment that tends to be used for this (such as pallet jacks) merely helps reduce the physical burden. It’s still up to truck drivers to handle this essential job.” (Gittleman)

  2. I love it! Your blog has some very solid points, that proves your side. The quotes you use show that technology is taking over and that it needs to slow down, before we have to much that we can’t handle. I also love your questions you ask about what will happen to the jobs of people that work in the car field! This was very well written and to the point! Awesome job!

  3. This is a pretty decent blog post. I agree with the points you stated and what happens to all these people who have careers in automotive what will they do now after they went to school to learn about automotive?

  4. Would electric or self-driving cars necessarily make people lost jobs in the production or fixing of cars? People would still need to do that work, correct?

I appreciate your additional information about the tasks that truckers perform, which suggests that perhaps some of these fears about job loss are more about jobs in factories, perhaps not jobs in the actual industries that require driving.
